Blood pressure is the force of the heart in pumping out blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. Each time the heart beats, it pump blood into the arteries.

 

Your blood pressure is highest when the heart beats, pushes out blood. This is called systolic pressure. When the heart is at rest, between beats, the blood pressure falls. This is called diastolic pressure.
